I mean no different than fingerprint access to a phone. There is a setting on faceID that will not unlock your phone unless you’re looking at it. If you look away or close your eyes it won’t unlock.
In the documentary, How to Survive a Plague they mention this very fact. Reagan was the president during this time and do you know what he did when the LGBTQ community begged him for help? He fucking laughed at us. His administration CELEBRATED that finally, ‘God’s judgement in the form of a plague’ was striking down queer people. They saw it as a form of divine population control. Reagan could have given a rats ass about us…
Until the plague began to effect straight people. THEN his administration cared. Because the people that mattered were finally getting sick. And finally the millions of dollars in research money was poured into finding a treatment for HIV. But by then, so many LGBTQ individuals had died. More people died from the initial HIV epidemic than the Vietnam war.
So when straight people complain about being ‘oppressed’ and why there isn’t a straight pride parade? Go fuck yourself. No one has ever tried to wipe you out through a plague, ignored your cries for help as a disease wiped out massive amounts of your community.
Interesting how a pandemic can be shown to disproportionately affect oppressed groups and conservatives can plan to claim negligence when they decide to weaponise it. I hope nothing like that ever happens again.

Privilege doesn’t mean you don’t experience hardships or strife. It simply means that those hardships are not because of your skin colour, sex, sexuality or gender identity.
Privilege is invisible if you’re the ones benefiting from it.
Let’s use an example of something that isn’t drenched in so much emotion.
If you’re right handed you never have to worry about using scissors. You’ve never had to worry about using a can opener, using a computer mouse. There are never points in your day where your handedness causes you any issues to perform your task because the world is set up for you. That’s privilege. If you’re left handed you are practically reminded of this every day because there are tasks that are harder to do being left handed. If you’re right handed then these issues have never crossed your mind.
You’re never going to think about your white privilege because the world is designed for you.

Employers, banks and other financial institutions already send detailed information to the IRS. The government knows how much you owe in tax. If they wanted to they could send you a tax bill and a form you could fill in to claim back taxable expenses (like travelling for work purposes.) It’s called Return Free Filing And is used in the majority of countries in the world. The American tax system has been deliberately set up this way so people will engage accountants, tax services, and tax software like TurboTax, because those same companies spent a lot of money lobbying Congress to keep the tax system complicated so they can make more money when you hire their services. They’re basically using the money you’re paying them to make sure congress doesn’t make your taxes easier.

Most countries are based on capitalism. Even in the UK here our government only cares about money. But America is a completely different level.

Hi fun fact, colors do have meaning and there is a legit thing called color theory. Red does has more positive connotations than negative like the @mintymaiden said. Red is associated with more love, lust, passion than blood and death just like the chart shows you but If you want, here’s a link for you to check it out yourself. I like that the presumption here is that “No One On Tumblr Has Heard of Color Theory, Let Me Explain in Depth” rather than simply acknowledging that the VISUAL EFFECTS of this particular color choice, applied in the manner it was, can still amount to “this is a hospital and that looks like blood”
like, color theory doesn’t exist in a vacuum. If your design of choice for Blood Red Paint is asymmetric splatters and sploches against the wall, or in this case, a snail trail on the hallway’s floor, an infographic won’t override the viewers’ instinct.
